The game was originally supposed to launch on September 20th, but a last-minute delay pushed the launch back to October 20th.
The elyon region lock is a new feature that will be implemented to the Elyon game. It will block players from being able to play in certain regions until October 20th.
Remember when Elyon announced a September 29th release date? This turned out to be more of a soft-lock, allowing Kakao to change its mind regarding the release as well as the revenue model.
Kakao revealed in a surprising announcement only weeks before the fantasy MMO’s debut that it was postponing the game’s launch until October 20th in order to convert to a free-to-play revenue model. The company cited increased competition in the MMORPG market this year as a reason for its buy-to-play model’s failure to achieve early success.
“While this was not an easy choice, we believe it is the right one in the end,” Kakao added. “We sincerely regret causing this interruption to anybody who was disappointed, especially those who pre-ordered or blocked time off their schedule to delve into Elyon this September. We hope you realize that our goal is to provide you with the finest Elyon possible.”
Players who have already pre-ordered the game may either get a portion of the premium currency or seek a refund. The 72-hour headstart will be available to everyone who has made a purchase prior to the release date.
The previous September timeframe had gotten a little too close to Revised World’s new launch date, so this should allow it some breathing space to boost its poor test phase numbers for launch.
